- settings atm:
- you can have a maximum of 300 bases and 100 lasers
- in 1 map, therefore the map 'HELP' will quit
- the program.so you should view it instead.

- they wont eat if there is 1200 on the map.

- make your own ECS maps with a paint program.

- it is unknown if gfx patches work with it..

- click icon 3 times

- choose your map by pressing the button marked
- 'pick map'. NB: you HAVE to select a map
- before you press start.

- choose the relevant simulation mode (ants or flees)
- from the map you selected. you can use ant sim.
- for flee maps, but is not recommended.

- press start or quit.

- Explanation:
-

- first of all: its not intended to be a game. its just a simulator
- that gives the pixels random moving variables (they move erratically)
-
- ants (and flees atm) die:
- 1.if they are killed by an other ant of different color.
- 2.if they run into water and drown (makes a potential bridge)
- 3.if they step onto a mine (boom), or gets caught in the explosion
- 4.if they are shot by an unfriendly laser, taken by enemy ants
- 5.may be others..

- they breath:
- 1.when 1 ant gets to a green pixel, it then 'eats' that and divides into 2
- 2.when an ant color has taken a 'base' (purple color),
- that base will randomly make ants/flees for that color.

- aim of the simulator:
- 1.(primarly) amuse me.
- 2.watch the different ant parties fight for dominance.
- 3.make a survival map, where the ants have to reach a specific point,
- and not get killed on the way.
- 4.make a map of a choise in life. (example included)

- press return when you are bored to death, you will return to GUI
- GUI does not work when screen is open.
- press 's' to save an iff of the map in ram:
- you can load that map later, but bases and lasers isnt saved atm

- oh.. in the sim. YOU have to make sure white's ants/flees
- get out of its bases, if they have 1 or more.
- looks like this in their color: o=1 pixel

- you have to holddown mousebutton on that base for ants to
- get out of it.
- you can see how many you have available at top left corner
- to the right of white's actual number of ants/flees alive.

- speed:
-
- you may have noticed sometimes when there are many
- ants/flees moving about, they go slower.
- i'll try to explain why:
-
- every life naturally consumes cpu power.
- but its not just that.
- more bases, lasers, and little ones togheter make
- the simulation go slower....
- heres a table of how much, in a rough estimate:

- 1 ant = 8
- 1 flee = 20
- 1 base = 1
- 1 lazer= 1 * how many lives currently alive
-
- so as you can see, lazers take quite a bit
- if theres alot of lives alive.
- ie: 3 lasers * 60 lives = 180
- or 20 lasers * 30 lives = 600

- now you may think that when there's little
- of all, the sim. goes hyperfast. it doesnt
- because i've put in delays when theres
- little to process. Otherwise, you wouldn't
- catch a thing ;)

- -ants sim is not delayed properly.
- this will show when ants move extremely fast.
- tip: restart prog

- -lives doesnt leave the right color when moving
- especially when floating.
